The construction of State Key Laboratory of Rare Metals Separation and Comprehensive Utilization was approved by by the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2010.

The State Key Laboratory of Applied Microbiology Southern China was founded on the basis of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Microbial Culture Collection and Application. In 2013, it was approved as the first of two State Key Laboratories in China by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The National Engineering Research Center of Powder Metallurgy of Titanium and Rare Metals was approved by Ministry of Science and Technology in 1994.

The National Engineering Research Center for Healthcare Devices was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology in 1993, focuses on the engineering technology research of new technologies, new products, new processes, new materials.

The National Engineering Laboratory for Modern Materials Surface Engineering Technology was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission in 2014.

　The China-Ukraine E.O. Paton Institute of Welding, supported by the MOST and the People's Government of Guangdong Province, is jointly established by E.O. Paton Electric Welding Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, the People's Government of Guangzhou Municipality and the Guangdong Academy of Sciences.

　China-Ukraine “Belt and Road" Joint Laboratory on Material Joining and Advanced Manufacturing was jointly established by the China-Ukraine Institute of Welding, Guangdong Academy of Sciences, as the supporting unit, Harbin Institute of Technology and E.O. Paton Electric Welding Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine as the participating institutions.
