The State Key Laboratory of Applied Microbiology Southern China was founded on the basis of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Microbial Culture Collection and Application. In 2013, it was approved as the first of two State Key Laboratories in China by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The Laboratory has made a great academic contribution: established the largest microbial germplasm resource bank and herbarium in South China; established a technological system for environmental pollution treatment based on the regulation of microbial metabolic networks, and contributed to Chinese ecological civilization construction; and, solved the significant problems and overcome the key technological difficulties of food safety in China.
The research on the anti-bacterial effect and mechanism of the new anti-bacterial materials is at the international leading level.
