The National Engineering Research Center for Healthcare Devices was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology in 1993, focuses on the engineering technology research of new technologies, new products, new processes, new materials.
The main research direction is on the four links of the medical equipment: major disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation; and, typical research interests cover the medical electronic instruments, functional new biomedical materials and virtual treatment system, which share common characteristics with large quantity, wide range, and certain difficulties and the high-standard for a market access.
The center aims to become a base for engineering research and technology incubation. The base would integrate components of research, development, design, pilot production, personnel training and information service to accelerate the technology commercialization in the industry of medical equipment, and to elevate the technology level of medical and healthcare devices in China.
