Team of GDAS Institute of Semiconductors Awarded Gold Prize for Integrated Innovation

　　On November 21th, the China Innovation Challenge (Guangdong) and the 2nd “Maker Bay Area” Zhongshan Torch Challenge of Tech Match-making were held in Zhongshan city. A research team in optical design led by Dr. XU Yiqin with GDAS Institute of Semiconductors participated in the competition and won the Gold Prize for Integrated Innovation. 

　　At the challenge, Dr. Xu’s team responded to the design demand of RGBW small-angle optical lens by Guangdong Hengchen Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd., and solved the key challenges of poor accuracy of existing software design and inconsistency in the effect of lens’ injection molding. They used area light-oriented free-form surface reconstruction algorithm and intelligent tolerance compensation technology for lens processing. With the highest score of the group, their solution was greatly appreciated by experts of the jury panel and won the Gold Prize for Integrated Innovation of the Tech Match-making challenge. At the event, GDAS Institute of Semiconductors also signed an agreement on technical cooperation with Guangdong Hengchen Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd. 

　　The challenge event was guided by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MST), sponsored by the MST Torch Center and the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong , and organized by the Administrative Committee of Zhongshan Torch Development Zone. After four months of work, the organizer collected a total of 144 demands from enterprises. More than 200 representatives of over 50 teams, enterprises, universities, research institutes and investment institutions from Guangdong, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Macao, Israel, and Russia participated in the competition.
