GDAS Visits Hong Kong for Technological Corporation

  On December 3rd, LIAO Bing, president of GDAS, led a delegation to the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI), the Hong Kong Science Park and the Hong Kong Academy of Sciences to discuss about technological cooperation in contributing to the construction of the International Science and Technology Innovation Center in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

  At EMSD, the delegation visited the exhibition hall, the Science and Technology Innovation Zone and the Customer Service Centre. Details of EMSD are introduced to the delegation, including business scopes of the Department, series of measures to support innovation, technologies to improve urban management, and cooperation cases conducted with local academic and research institutions such as the intelligent fever detection system at the port of entry, and the Government Internet of Things.

  At the Hong Kong Science Park, ASTRI delivered a presentation to the delegation, introduced its overview, research areas and achievements, and introduced  projects like bare-eyed 3D technology, unmanned cars, and car networking. Moreover, the delegation also learnt about the Park's advantageous resources and policies, key technology field, current situation and future plans of incubators. Incubation projects such as the self-driving car park, robot courier center, unmanned shops, robot ice cream shop and IoT green wall are presented. Professor TSUI, Lap-Chee, president of Hong Kong Academy of Sciences, attended the talk.

  LIAO introduced research platforms, personnel and achievements of GDAS. As he said, GDAS focuses on the need of Guangdong’s industries development, machinating research directions as well as constructing Industrial Technology Research Institutes; currently, GDAS leads a strategically scientific force in Guangdong’s driven innovation development, and is now accelerating technology commercialization by applying the "four-chain integration" strategy, which is a combination of the policy chain, innovation chain, industrial chain and capital chain. GDAS is looking for cooperations and collaborations with Hong Kong government and research institutes, hoping that the cooperation can make the best use of collaborated strengths, boost the development of the industry, and jointly contribute to the construction of the International Science and Technology Innovation Center in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
