On November 28th, the 2019 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Academician Summit and the Fifth Guangdong Academician Summit with the theme of "Intelligent Leadership in the New Era, Wisdom in the Greater Bay Area" opened in Dongguan. LIAO Bing, president of GDAS, was invited to the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech.
The summit is guided by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the People's Government of Guangdong Province, and hosted by the Federation of Guangdong Academicians and the People's Government of Dongguan. ZHOU Ji, honorary chairman of the Presidency of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; ZHANG Yizhen, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and Minister of Organization; QIN Weizhong, vice governor of Guangdong Province attended the meeting. Besides, around 60 scholars and experts participated in the summit, including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Engineering, experts from Hong Kong and Macao, representatives of universities and research institutes, and over 700 representatives from enterprises such as Tencent and Alibaba as well as those from relevant departments of provincial or municipal governments. The conference set up a series of special events such as invited presentation, alliance summits, release conferences of major innovation achievements, high-end industrial development forum, and academicians and experts visiting.
As one of the important sections of the Greater Bay summit, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Academicians and Experts Alliance Summit for Innovation and Entrepreneurship was held at the same time in Dongguan University of Technology. Directors from six universities and scientific research institutes are invited to deliver keynote speeches on the topic of technology commercialization, the education and training for innovative and entrepreneurial talents, as well as the motivation of higher education and technological innovation in the Greater Bay. By delivering a speech on the title of "Establishing Efficient Technology Incubation System", LIAO started with the analysis of the current situation and existing problems in domestic technology commercialization. He introduced GDAS’s recent achievements in structure innovation and the upgrade of management system for not only facilitating the integration of “four chains” of policy, innovation, industry and capital, but also improving the ability of technology commercialization. The speech received widely positive response from audiences.
The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Academicians and Experts Innovation and Entrepreneurship Alliance was jointly initiated and established in April this year by 22 organizations including major universities and research institutes in Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao, and the Guangdong Academician Federation. LIAO Bing was elected as the vice chairman of the Alliance (Guangdong).
